ARTIST BIO
Molly Penton (formerly Zaidman) is a portrait and travel photographer whose work reflects a deep love for analog imagery, natural light, and the emotional nuance of the human experience. Her photographs—like frozen movie frames—evoke a quiet power and presence, often balancing delicacy with strength, always rooted in rich textures, color, and soulful composition.
Having lived in Gabon, Caracas, Madrid, Zurich, Mexico City, and throughout the United States, Molly brings a global lens to her visual storytelling. These diverse environments have shaped her sensitivity to light, culture, and the intimate connection between people and place. Whether capturing the human figure, a quiet landscape, or the details of lived-in space, her work is an invitation to slow down and look more deeply.
Her practice fluidly blends analog and digital techniques, though she is most known for her use of film and her signature use of natural light. In recent years, Molly has returned to the U.S. and now finds herself rooted in the Black Hills region—drawn to its history, light, and the deep sense of place it offers. She is currently creating new work inspired by the land and community here, and welcomes opportunities to collaborate with local curators, artists, and cultural institutions.
